Wondering what to add to the closet this Fall? Here are 5 essentials that are certain to update your wardrobe for the cooler weather.
Long Sweater – Those kimono cardigans were great this season in floaty silks and lace, but for Fall, we will need something a little more substantial. Keep the length, but amp up the fabric to a wooly knit or sumptuous cashmere. These long sweaters keep your bottom half warm as well and will blend seamlessly with all your other Fall essentials. Patterns are fun, but you can rock a solid color as well…the options are endless!
Moto Jacket – The moto jacket is a great essential piece since it can be dressed up or down. There are jackets in leather, suede, denim, canvas…pretty much any material you can think of! It is a great layering piece and pairs well with a chunky scarf, flirty dress, or basic black pants. If you are looking for something extra-warm, there are moto jackets that are lined with shearling or faux-fur that will keep you warm through Winter.
Maxi Dress – Another great Fall wardrobe addition is a piece you may have bought this Summer…the maxi dress! A cozy sweater over top and some tights and boots will make this cold weather friendly. There are also some great options in store now that are made with wool or a more substantial cotton that can keep you just as warm as jeans. Bonus fashionista points? Choose a lightweight maxi with slits on the sides and let some fun leggings or pants peek out!
Booties – We have a confession to make ( yes, another!). We wore booties all Summer! We love a great metallic sandal for the beach and a fun white sneaker for a family reunion picnic, but booties are so versatile that they simply go with anything you throw on. This Summer, that meant sundresses and linen shorts, this Fall, we can focus on tights and wool sweater dresses. Keeping with the 70’s theme, suede and a little fringe on your booties would be a fun addition.
A Fun Pant – Sure, we love our dark blue and black denim that fits just right and makes our legs look a mile long, but what about punching up our wardrobes with some color? We sometimes fall into a rut, pairing a cream blouse with our dark denim most days of the week, but if we had some hunter green or marsala pants, it would make our outfit look that much more put together and eye-catching. Plus, the colors are dark enough to still flatter that figure! This is a great choice to make when most of your wardrobe is neutral and will spice it up with this unexpected color pop. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also a Fall fashion trend. If you’re feeling gutsy, choose a colored corduroy pant to play with the 70’s theme that is so hot this season as well. As for the silhouette, choose what works for your Style Dial, whether it be flared, straight, or skinny!
